After joining WA I began completing their free learning classes online to learn affiliate marketing and I kept hearing members talking about retention rates. Having no clue of any of the marketing lingo at the time I asked what is retention about?
I soon found out when I discovered I had a 100% bounce rate on the first sites I built using the WA platform.

Learning Google Search Console and Google Analytics has taught me an abundance about retention and site specifics.

Most affiliate marketers look for higher-paying affiliate programs for their niche markets. Some of these products pay very well and many affiliates consider them the best affiliate commissions available for affiliate marketers.
However, they may not produce as well as other popular lower commissioned affiliate products.
Sometimes you can actually make more income by promoting lesser-priced affiliate products.
Affiliate commissions are not the only draw to a good affiliate product and its program.
You should consider the use of the product, the popularity of the product, and the demand for the product.
As well as the commission payout with any of the product programs you use.
Affiliate marketers that select a product to promote using these guidelines don’t always select the higher paying affiliate program over the more popular programs.
Most affiliate offer platforms allow the pages to load using sort, this can tell the newest, oldest, and best-selling products. This also tells you the retention rate for products you plan on promoting as an affiliate marketer.
The highest costing products can have horrible retention rates meaning they don’t sell well and probably have many returns. Like other businesses, there are pitfalls with affiliate marketing that you may not be aware of but probably should be.
Everybody Loves A Ferrari
Everybody loves a Ferrari but most people can not spend that kind of money so they buy a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge instead.
The better products to promote in this case are Chevy, Ford, and Dodge for longevity with your sales volume.
The commissions are less than what the Ferrari would provide.
However, the volume with sales will more than makeup for losing that high Ferrari commission.
One of the huge advantages of affiliate marketing is that you can shoot for all of those commissions and include that Ferrari.
Why not promote the Ferrari and the Chevy, Ford, and Dodge!
Most affiliate marketers want big commissions with a steady flow of product purchases happening on their sites. Whatever you decide for a product may determine the real ways to earn money online because the product is what matters the most.

Every affiliate marketer is always looking for a successful market that gives the biggest paycheck. Sometimes, it takes a magic formula to find that perfect product readily available for them.

It is just good marketing practices that have been proven over years of hard work and dedication.
Product is everything in marketing and unless you promote the best you could set yourself up for failure.
Imagine getting stuck with a lemon of a product that no one wants to buy, I mean that’s what killed Pontiac. What a shame!
That’s right folks if it wasn’t for the 2001 Pontiac Aztek, Pontiac may still be here today.
It’s the #1 worst car ever produced according to Edmonds.
Pontiac received a 100% bounce rate with no retention rate on that manufactured doozy.
They spent the bank trying to market that car to people who won’t see what a complete piece of junk it was. Unfortunately, that drove the last spike into Pontiac and it was over for them. Edmonds lists it #1 on their 100 worst cars of all time review.
However, there are old marketing methods that still work with online marketing in the world today. These three old marketing methods below, will increase your sales and help you survive with affiliate marketing online.
While I didn’t mention much about email marketing you should include that in your marketing methods if you don’t already.
Email marketing is probably the oldest marketing method online today and it’s still one of the best ways to produce results.
What Are These Three Methods?
Create Unique Web Content
1. Create unique web content to promote each separate product you are marketing. Do not lump all of it together just to save some money on web hosting. It is best to have one site that focuses on one niche and nothing more.
Always include product reviews on the website so visitors will have an initial understanding of what the product can do for them.
The review will ultimately decide who will be buying them.
Also include testimonials from users who have already tried the product if available.
Testimonials can only help with the decision to get visitors to click that call to action link on your site.
After all, it is going on the site of the specific product you are marketing. This can also be achieved by allowing post comments and using some of those comments that you receive.
You can also write articles highlighting the uses of the product and include them on the website as an additional page. Make the pages attractive, compelling and include calls to act on the information.
Most importantly, do not copy someone else’s pages and paste them as your own with any content you create. Google will destroy your SEO ranking for unethically plagiarising other people’s content on your site.

2. Offer free reports to your readers. If possible position them at the very top side of your page so they’re not to be missed. Create an autoresponder message that will be mailed to those who input their email address for the free report
According to search results, a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with a prospect.
Only one of two things can possibly happen with the web page, it either produces results or it doesn’t.
Either a closed sale or the prospect of the page visitor leaving the page never to return again.
By placing useful information into their inboxes you will remind them of the product.
If they buy it later you will find out that the sale has closed later within your email account.
Be sure that the content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product. Do not make it sound like a sales pitch. Focus on important points like how your product can make life and things easier and more enjoyable.
Include compelling subject lines in your emails. Avoid using the word free because some filters toss it in spam before reading the email. Convince those who signed up for your free reports to add you to the allow list.
That way they won’t miss something big with one of your products and/or services.
Find Targeted Traffic
3. Find targeted traffic that is tailored to your product demographics, this will determine your audience. Receiving visitors to your website with no interest whatsoever in you’re offering is a huge problem for many affiliates.
Generally, this happens all too often with paid traffic because the traffic is usually random and not targeted whatsoever.
Beginner affiliates will buy traffic from just about anywhere just to get hits to their site thinking it will help them rank.
The reality is that the traffic does nothing but cost you money and that’s if the site visitors are in fact real anyway.
Many merchants on eBay and Amazon sell traffic packages guaranteeing huge inflows of site traffic.
Many of these traffic packages use pinging programs so buyers should beware before purchasing anything.
Watch buying this type of traffic, your bounce rate will go through the roof because those visitors are among the first to move on and never come back. This alone affects your site SEO score, nobody wants a 100% bounce rate.

Consider setting a budget for advertising targeted site visitors, many platforms sell targeted advertisements to marketers. Google, Bing and Yahoo all sell this type of advertising as does Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, Instagram, and many more.

Publish Ads, Comments, and Articles
Publish ads, comments, and articles on various sites that allow your information to be posted. For instance, on the sidebar here you can see AdlandPro classifieds as you scroll this page.

Look for publications that have categories with your product in mind, and post ads to that category.
Click the banner in the sidebar and join for free, It may land some extra targeted traffic to your site.
Stay consistent with creating your site posts to engage readers, and shoot for at least 3 posts a week whenever possible.
There was a time when the content could be short, maybe 300 hundred words or less.
However, for purposes of ranking in the SERPs, you want a lot longer bit of content involved with the search engines today.
Generate Massive Traffic
Continue writing these posts, you can generate many targeted readers to your site through search results. Keep in mind that not everyone will buy what you offer but there will always be a percentage that will make a purchase.
Share your posts on every social media site that will allow them and over time you will generate massive traffic.
The more popular your site becomes as you post content the more it will generate massive traffic over time.
Based on averages, when you begin seeing a few thousand visitors a day you will also see a nice stream of income too.
The methods given above are not difficult, and they will improve your site’s traffic. Learn to implement these methods.
